Dnepropetrovsk “Company MAIS”, which engaged in breeding and produces seed corn hybrids, continues to develop relation with European partners. In the end of July the Company was visited by Vittorio Matutstsi and Eugenio Siboni, who are representatives of European Bank of Reconstruction and development.
EBRD (European Bank of Reconstruction and Development) is one of the most significant international investors in post-socialist countries and the cooperation between Ukrainian Seed “Company MAIS” and EBRD began from spring of 2013. The cooperation assumes company transformation in the format of international business enterprises. The Company`s structuration, renovation of production system management and marketing policy, automation of accounting and the reporting occur with EBRD participation.
These changes realize according to the Enterprise Growth Program and Business Advisory Services of EBRD.
“The collaboration with EBRD increases trust to the Company from agriculture producers and financial institutes and it allowed to get finance from European banks according to the EBRD guarantee. These finances are used on new seed factory building designed by Danish company Westrup. The main task of “MAIS” is to provide clients with competitive product such as seed corn hybrids of high quality“, – said head of the Company Victor Borisov.
During the visit of the representatives of EBRD they discussed results of the first year of collaboration with company leadership, they visited production facilities of the Company in Dnipropetrovsk region, selection nursery, demonstrative area and area of corn hybrids, assessed high level of the Company agriculture.
Consultant of “Company MAIS” Eugenio Siboni assesses changes in the Company as qualitative ones and recommends to reinforce of transformation dynamic. The Consultant sees a necessity of reformation acceleration.
“Now we are on the stage of switching from our financial accounting to international level. It is very important and difficult problem at the same time because our enterprise is not a standard. We joint in within the Company at least three direction such as science, production and seed distribution. Standard accounting program that was adapted for separate direction of agriculture production and processing, we need to adapt this program and make it single. And we do it now and we understand that our company becomes closer to European business operating standards on one more aspects.”- said commercial director Nikolay Melnik.
The Company plans several visits of representatives of EBRD to “MAIS” till end of the year. One of them is planned during traditional seminar of the Company in August and during the opening new seed factory.
