Company MAIS obtained a certificate of their new hybrids registration in Belarus. Volodymyr Beinia granted the certificate to Viktor Borysov, the chairman of Company MAIS.
The Head of Ukrainian seed company acknowledged the Belarus Republic State Inspection for Testing and Protection of Plant Varieties work and noted the high level of professionalism of its staff, especially the mandatory recording of the protein content level of corn hybrids grain.
The agrarian sphere experts know that the amount of crude protein in grain is directly connected with the quality of feed for livestock, and the nutritional value of fodder and the economic efficiency of feeding animals depends on its content, as well as the quality of meat and milk. Especially the amount of this content is important in the preparation of animal feed for poultry. Though, we observe in practice, that in Ukraine a special attention is paid to the determination of the crude protein level on purchase of the food wheat. Virtually there is no interest to the level of protein content in maize grain and even in the information field this problem is not a priority in comparison with the indicators of potential yield and moisture content at harvesting. Viktor Borysov, the Chairman of Company MAIS admitted that the attitude to this problem in Republic of Belarus was a pleasant surprise for them.
“Starting from the stage of a formal registration of new corn hybrids, the grain is investigated on for the ability of genotypes to accumulate crude protein in grain. Most often the range varies between 9 and 10%. It was much more pleasant to find out that our hybrid DMS 2510 became a leader in this regard. This hybrid is able to accumulate the crude protein in grain up to 12.6%, which is higher by 20-25% than the national standards and other researched hybrids. These figures were recorded at Kobryn Variety Trial Station (Brest region, republic of Belarus)” says Viktor Borysov.
It should be noted that the Company MAIS corn hybrids, namely Bestseller 287 MB and Mriia MS are the national standards for different maturity groups and directions of use in Belarus. According to the official report, the reference hybrid Bestseller 287 MB has demonstrated the yield of 147 hwt/ha at the Kobryn Variety Trial Station (Brest region) and of 176 hwt/ha at the Nesvizh Variety Trial Station (Minsk region). It must be mentioned that the Company MAIS hybrid DMS Super on harvesting demonstrated 18.7% of moisture content at the Mozyr Variety Trial Station (Gomel region). For Belorussian climatic conditions the hybrids with such genetic characteristics will be highly valued. The experts of the State Inspection for Testing and Protection of Plant Varieties admit the high quality of seeds provided for planting on for grain and silage and are interested in Company MAIS to continue importing its corn hybrids seeds for testing in republic of Belarus.
